Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Can I wash my flyveil?
A. Yes you can wash your Flyveils by Design flyveil in
the washing machine on a cold or warm cycle.
Q. Does it matter if the adjustable buckle is
on the 'on' or 'off' side of the horse?
A. No, the buckle should only be adjusted once, the
first time you fit the flyveil to the horse, and should not be used to take the flyveil on
or off the horse.
Q. Your flyveil has left a mark on my horse's
poll from the strap, what's going on?
A. The flyveil is done up too tight, or is too small for
the horse. Loosen the adjustable strap and the velcro. The flyveil does not need to be
skin tight to keep the flies out.
Q. Why do you use a 'stiffer' edging on your
flyveils?
A. The edging gives your flyveil its shape and helps to
hold the flyveil out away from the horse's eyes. In summer the mesh of the flyveil becomes
softer with heat, without a firmer edging the flyveil droops towards the horse's eyes.
Q. Do the different colour flyveils spook horses?
A. Our research has not found anything conclusive,
whether horses can see in colour or in greyscale. Different colour flyveils certainly do
not spook our own horses.
Q. We have a really bad fly problem even at night, can I
leave my flyveil on 24hrs a day?
A. That is personal preference and something you should
trial. We have heard of many instances where they have been worn sucessfully 24/7.
Q. Your flyveil is too big on my horse?
A. Use the adjustable strap and velrco to give the
flyveil a better fit for your horse.
Q. Are any of your flyveils imported?
A. No, all of our flyeils are handmade by us using the
best materials bought within Australia. The product is 110% Australian.
Q. Do you supply direct to the public?
A. No, using the link below (Order Form) you can see
that you can buy, or order, a Flyveils by Design flyeil at a large number of saddlery
stores including, SADDLEWORLD & HORSELAND stores Australia wide.
Q. Does your flyveils block out any UV light?
A. YES, infact over 70% of the UV light is blocked out
from the use of our flyveils. This has been tested and certified by the same department
that rates the VU blockout on thing like Sunglasses and Window tinting.
Q. Do light coloured flyveils block out less UV light than
darker colours?
A. Yes, but there is only 0.5% difference. White let in
0.5% more UV light than Black, so as you can see there is very little difference between
colours when it comes to UV protection.
Q. Do other flyveils have UV Protection?
A. No, only a FLYVEILS BY DESIGN flyveil has been tested
and certified to blockout 70%+ of UV light. Don't take the risk, buy only a FLYVEILS BY
DESIGN product.
